A strong dental school letter comes from someone who can write specifically about your readiness, character, work habits, judgment, and growth.
An impressive title is less useful if the writer only knows you from a large lecture or a brief interaction.
Science faculty are usually important
Many dental schools expect letters from science faculty, and some have specific committee letter or dentist letter preferences. Check requirements before finalizing your list.
Ask early enough that the writer has time to produce something thoughtful.
Make writing easier
Send your CV, personal statement draft, transcript context, school timeline, and a few reminders of work you did with the recommender.
